Who controls your eBay fitment, and who pays when it is wrong.
eBay is closing myFitment on 30 September 2026 and there is no export tool. Here is what actually stops, what replaces it, and where the responsibility sits when a buyer says the part did not fit.
What actually stops on 30 September?
myFitment's standalone application and its third party integrations close. eBay acquired the myFitment group of companies in August 2022 and is now folding the capability into eBay Fitment Plus Auto.
Three things are worth separating, because they are not the same thing:
Fitment already applied to your listings stays. It is not deleted on 1 October.
Maintenance stops. After the deadline myFitment no longer submits, updates, corrects or monitors that data. What you have is frozen.
Third party and Amazon access is cut off entirely. Paid subscriptions have already been reduced to zero.
There is no migration or export tool. That is the part most sellers only discover when they go looking for one.
Reported by Value Added Resource, 31 July 2026. eBay has not published a detailed explanation for cutting off third party access.
I only sell on eBay. Do I need to replace it at all?
Probably not, and we would rather say so than sell you something.
eBay Fitment Plus Auto is free, it runs inside the platform, and since October 2025 eBay has been automatically enrolling eligible Parts and Accessories sellers into it. It reviews your covered listings against eBay's own compatibility database on a weekly cycle, and it can both add fitment where you have none and supplement what you have already provided.
If your catalogue is mainstream branded parts, you list only on eBay, and your part numbers are clean, that is a reasonable answer on its own. Take the free thing.
Where it stops being enough is covered further down, under what brand and part number cannot tell you.
I sell on Amazon too. What replaces that?
Not us. GridX Connect lists into eBay Motors and does not have an Amazon integration, so we are not the answer to that half of the problem.
Fitment you have already applied to Amazon listings stays in place. What you lose is the ability to submit, update and correct it through myFitment after the deadline. Amazon expects its own automotive flat file with Part Finder data, which is a different format and a different submission path from eBay's.
If Amazon is the larger part of your business, look at providers who work in that format. PCFitment is one that does. We would rather point you somewhere useful than pretend the overlap is bigger than it is.
Why was I enrolled without being asked, and does opting out work?
Because enrolment is the default. eBay switched Fitment Plus Auto from opt in to automatic for eligible sellers, and the notification arrives after the fact. Sellers noticed:
"I got one today saying I've been enrolled in 'eBay Guaranteed Fit', with no explanation about how it affects the SELLER."

Opting out is available in Motors Selling Preferences. Two things to know before you do it:
Opting out removes the fitment that Fitment Plus Auto added. If it has been running for a while, that may be more of your coverage than you expect.
You can opt back in later, and your listings become eligible again.
The enrolment also catches sellers who are not really parts sellers at all:
"I got that email too, and can't for the life of me figure out why. I have some manuals listed in Ebay Motors, but most of the car items I have are advertising pieces, no parts."

eBay wrote the compatibility. The buyer says it does not fit. Who pays?
This is the question sellers actually care about, and the honest answer has two halves.
The return label is usually eBay's. Under eBay Guaranteed Fit, when a buyer opens a return for "Doesn't fit my vehicle", eBay provides a free return label to the buyer where the return is auto accepted or you choose to provide one. The programme covers most parts and accessories for cars, trucks and motorcycles.
The exceptions matter more than they look, because auto parts land in them constantly. eBay states that free return labels are not available for:
International items
Items shipped in multiple packages
Items weighing more than 20kg
Items in the Wheels, Tyres and Parts category
A bumper, an engine, a set of wheels, anything freight, anything crossing a border. Those are the returns that hurt, and those are the ones outside the label.
And the label was never the whole cost. You still carry the part coming back in unknown condition, the handling, the lost sale, and the effect on your own service metrics. Sellers have put the accountability question plainly:
"If eBay inserts a bunch of compatibility into my listing, then eBay should be responsible if that info is erroneous, and eBay should pay the refund; not me."

That is a reasonable position. It is not the current arrangement.
Where does brand and part number matching break?
eBay's guidance is that including the correct Manufacturer Part Number and brand helps match your product to valid vehicle data. That inference is good, and it is not the same as verified fitment.
It breaks in predictable places:
Private label and house brands. There is no manufacturer part number to match against, so there is nothing to infer from.
Remanufactured and aftermarket equivalents carrying a number that resembles an OE number without being one.
Superseded numbers. The part is current. The number in the listing is two supersessions old, and the vehicle list attached to it is the old one.
Non US specification vehicles. The same model sold into a different market with a different engine or trim, which the vehicle table does not distinguish.
Anything where the difference is below trim level. A seller put this well:
"Do sellers receive VIN as part of FitmentPlus? If not, that is a problem, merely having year, make, model and even trim level does not narrow some parts down enough."

That is the real limit. Year, make, model and trim resolve most parts. They do not resolve the ones where the variant is decided by an option code or a build date, and those are exactly the parts that come back.
How many vehicles can one listing actually carry?
Up to 1,000 or 3,000 year, make, model, trim and engine combinations depending on the category. For a common wear part that is a real ceiling, and hitting it means something in your data is over applied rather than comprehensive.
A part claimed against more vehicles than it fits is the returns driver. A part missing vehicles it does fit is the visibility driver. Both are worth measuring, and they are different problems with different fixes.
There is no export. So what do I actually pull before the deadline?
Your live listings are the record. Compatibility that has been applied to them is still there, and it is still readable, which means it can be pulled and rebuilt from the listings themselves rather than from myFitment.
What can be recovered cleanly is the part number, the brand, the category and the compatibility list already published. What cannot be recovered from a listing is the reasoning behind it: whether a given vehicle was verified, inferred, or added automatically. That distinction is the thing worth rebuilding properly.
For a catalogue in the thousands of SKUs this is days of work, not weeks, and it does not require ending or relisting anything.
Before 30 September: a free coverage report
Send us your eBay seller ID. We will tell you, at no cost, how many of your live listings we can rebuild verified fitment for and how many we cannot, and we will flag which of them are over applied, meaning they claim vehicles the part does not fit.
That second number is the one worth having. Multiply it by what a return costs you and you have your own answer about whether any of this is worth doing.
GridX Connect is an authorised eBay listing tool. Its fitment does not come from myFitment's pipeline, which is why we can rebuild from your listings rather than depending on a service that is closing.
